Once a year the Sun returns to the exact degree it held when you were born, and the chart of that instant describes the twelve months beginning there. This reading takes that chart apart against your natal chart, one activated house at a time. It runs around sixty pages on the year you are in.

Who it is for

For someone who already knows the ground of their natal chart and wants to know what the year ahead is about. It works best when your birthday is approaching or has just passed, because the cycle runs from one return to the next rather than from January to December.

If you have never had your natal chart read, start there. The return borrows all its meaning from the natal chart, and without that ground it stays half-legible.

When is the best time to order it?

Near your birthday, before or after. The solar year begins at the return, so a reading ordered mid-cycle describes a year you are already halfway through. Still useful, but it earns more at the start.

Does it work if I'm travelling on my birthday?

It does, and it is worth telling me. I calculate the chart for wherever you are that day, so a trip changes the result. If you do not know yet where you will be, let me know and we will work it out.

Is it the same as this year's transits?

Not quite. Transits are the sky moving over your natal chart continuously. The return is a photograph of one instant, and it describes the tone of the whole cycle. They complement each other, and in the reading I use the return as the frame and transits for the timeline.
