The shape of the week
The week of October 19 to 25, 2026 turns on Venus. Retrograde since October 3, she squares Pluto early in the week and meets the Sun at the midpoint of her retrograde, on the night of the 23rd in the Americas and the morning of the 24th in Europe. Hours later Mercury turns retrograde at 20°59′ Scorpio. The Sun enters Scorpio on Friday and Venus slips back into Libra on Sunday.
From Saturday two personal planets are retrograde at the same time. Venus stays retrograde until November 13 or 14 and Mercury until November 13. Venus goes back over what you value and who you value. Mercury goes back over what gets said and agreed. The first half of the week carries some emotional tension. Between Friday and Sunday four turning points land within about 48 hours.
Venus meets the Sun as Mercury turns retrograde
On Friday evening in the Americas and early Saturday in Europe, the Sun and retrograde Venus meet at 0°45′ Scorpio. Astrologers call this the inferior conjunction. It marks the halfway point of Venus retrograde and the start of a new Venus cycle that lasts about 584 days. The tradition calls this moment cazimi, when a planet sits in the heart of the Sun.
It tends to work like a reset of the heart. What you have been reviewing since early October comes into focus. You may see more clearly what a relationship gives you. You may also notice what you keep paying for out of habit. A new way of valuing yourself or someone else can begin here, quietly. It rarely needs announcing the same day.
A few hours later, on Saturday the 24th, Mercury stops at 20°59′ Scorpio and turns retrograde. That is 07:12 UT, which means 3:12 a.m. in New York and 9:12 a.m. in Madrid. The retrograde lasts until November 13 and stays in Scorpio the whole time. Mercury in Scorpio tends to take conversation toward what usually goes unsaid. Over the next three weeks a talk you postponed may come back. Shared money or a contract may need a slower reading. For the full picture, with every date for 2026 and 2027, here is how Mercury retrograde works.
Two retrogrades at once don't mean everything stops. They tend to slow the parts of life that run on agreements and affection. That makes them better for repairing and reviewing than for launching. Leaving a little margin around signatures and big purchases until mid-November is usually enough.
The days around it
The week opens with Venus retrograde squaring Pluto at 3°04′ of Scorpio and Aquarius. It is exact on Tuesday the 20th, still Monday night on the Pacific coast. This square has been building since last week. It can stir jealousy or a wish for control, often around money shared with someone. What surfaces is usually old and familiar. Saying it out loud tends to work better than acting on it straight away.
On Wednesday the 21st the Sun trines the North Node in Aquarius, a small push toward the friendships and groups that point forward.
The same afternoon or evening in the Americas (early Thursday in Europe) the Sun at 28°32′ Libra opposes Chiron in Aries. Chiron is retrograde near the end of the sign. The opposition can press on an old sore spot around asserting yourself, especially in a relationship where you tend to give way. It is a good day to notice where you keep the peace at your own expense. The page on Chiron in Aries goes deeper into that wound.
On Friday the 23rd the Sun enters Scorpio, early in the morning in the Americas and around midday in Europe. Scorpio season tends to turn attention inward, toward what lies under the surface. With Venus and Mercury already there, this year it opens with a lot of review.
On Sunday the 25th Venus slips back into Libra, where she will turn direct in mid-November. The tone of her review moves from intensity toward balance. Questions of fairness in a partnership may take the place of questions of control. In Europe the clocks go back one hour during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
The week closes on the edge of a Full Moon at 2°46′ Taurus. It falls on Sunday evening on the Pacific coast and early on Monday the 26th everywhere else. It squares Pluto and sets the tone for the week that follows.
Where it falls for your rising sign
